The Rough Riders opened their season with a strong 26-13 victory over the Bears on Friday, securing the game's first touchdown with a 4 yard pass from Roman Morales to Aiden Collier. Defense defined the 1st half, a strong line forcing Brewer to just narrowly score two field goals and put up an even 6 points to tie the game at halftime.
The 2nd half was all about offense, starting with an impressive 78 yard touchdown pass from Morales to Boaz Kaloso and further extending the lead to 19-6 with a 4 yard run by the former. The Bears fought to catch up midway through the 4th quarter, but a combination of stellar defense and a 32 yard run by Corey Baker clenched the victory for Saginaw.
Next Friday, Sept. 6, the Rough Riders go head to head against the Pioneers at home.
