At the THSWPA State Powerlifting Meet on Mar. 16 at the Comerica Center in Frisco, four Saginaw lifters showcased their strength and skill. Each lifter competed in three sets of lifts—squat, bench press, and deadlift—where the total weight determined the winner. Bisola Olusomiro secured sixth place, Nghi Tran earned seventh, and Mila Luangraj placed 12th in their respective weight classes. Junior Francis Arroyo lifted an impressive total of 990 lbs, earning her the State Champion title in the 165 weight class. Arroyo's victory marked an improvement from her second-place finish last year. "In some of the early meets this season I got beat and that motivated me to work harder because losing stung," said Arroyo reflecting on this past season. "The State Meet was very competitive. I was thrilled when I saw the final results immediately after my last lift! It feels good to be called a State Champion." Congratulations!
