Saginaw Girls 4x200m breaks school record at Rough Rider Relays

Saginaw Track hosted their annual Rough Rider Relays on Feb. 23-24 at Rough Rider Stadium. The boys team placed ninth out of 14 teams in their home meet. Paul Barasa finished second in the 200m by a mere .01 seconds. The Varsity 4x100m Relay, comprised of Jimmy Howard, Tyler Self, Barasa and Aidan Collier, secured a third-place finish. Additionally, freshman Izaiah Zepeda claimed fourth place in Pole Vault, clearing a height of 10'6".

Meanwhile, the Lady Rough Riders finished fifth out of 16 teams in their home meet. Led by the record-breaking team of London Provo, Elsie Zachry, Lacey Clark and Trinity Coleman, the 4x200m relay set a school record with a time of 1:43.31. This marks the third straight season the record has been broken. The team is ranked ninth in 5A and second in the Region. Jazmine Duncan continued the success with a personal best and third-place finish in the 300m hurdles. Provo's performances in the 100m and 200m secured fourth place in both events, with her 200m time ranking as the sixth fastest in the region.

The Rough Riders are back on the track for their next competition at the Kennedale Invitational on Thursday, Feb. 29.
