Saginaw shines at Railroad Rumble: Girls Gymnastics makes history, boys continue winning streak

On Thursday, Feb. 22, Saginaw's gymnastics teams traveled to Chisholm Trail to take on sister schools at the annual Railroad Rumble. Both teams secured first place overall. The Lady Rough Riders team made history by clinching the top spot for the first time in the program's existence with a score of 108.35, surpassing Boswell (105.150) and Chisholm Trail (88.650). Senior Maya Castillo claimed first place in Vault, Bars, Floor and the All-Around category. Junior Chelsie Jefferson contributed to the success, with third place on Vault, Beam, and All-Around and tying for first on Bars. Eva Goode and Karen Kabuya also earned several Top 6 finishes.

On the boys team, Senior Grant Morgan finished first on Rings, Vault and High Bar. Senior Gabe Chase placed first on Parallel Bars while senior Gabe Cheney earned first on floor and junior Aston Carrasco took first on Pommel Horse. Many other athletes had Top 6 finishes pushing the team to the top of the podium overall for the 15th consecutive year.

Both teams are back in action at home on Wednesday, Feb. 28 versus L.D. Bell.
