Saginaw cross country sets many personal records at Southlake Invitational

The Saginaw cross country teams competed at their second meet of the season on Saturday, Aug. 26. The Southlake Invitational at Bob Jones Park featured over 300 runners in each category. Senior Brady Brooks competed in the Elite Boys Varsity division, while returning senior Javier Tafolla and freshman Andrei Carter participated in the Open division for the three mile race. Brooks achieved a personal record, finishing 254th out of 343 runners with a time of 17:26.90. Tafolla also set a personal record ranking 250th out of 454 with a time of 19:17.90, while Carter finished 318th out of 454 with a time of 19:56.80.

In the Girls Varsity Open division sophomore Kamryn Weeks represented the Rough Riders finishing 146th out of 328 runners with a time of 22:34.8. Despite it being her first race of the season, Weeks is off to a great start, continuing her performance from the previous season.

Saginaw will compete in the Panther Invitational hosted by Fossil Ridge at the Keller Youth Association field this Friday, Sept. 1 where a complete varsity team will compete in a 5k race.
