The Lady Rough Riders hosted Brewer on a beautiful warm evening on Feb. 28. In the first half, Saginaw controlled the game and kept the ball on Brewer's end for the majority of the half and ended the half scoreless. In the second half, the Lady Rough Riders came alive and began to move the ball around. Six minutes into the second half, junior captain Jacky Rangel played a through ball into the box. Elsie Zachry wins the ball with her speed and power and Brewer's keeper comes out and fouls Zachry in the box. A penalty kick is called for the Lady Rough Riders. Junior captain Madeline Braden places her shot in the upper 90 corner to give Saginaw the lead. With 28 minutes left to play Daisy Ruiz takes the Brewer defense on the sideline, and played the ball to Braden, who plays a quick pass back to Ruiz. Ruiz dropped the ball back to Kimberly Perez, who takes a shot from 20 yards out and scores her first varsity goal to move Saginaw to 2-0. Keeping the high intensity, with 20 minutes remaining, Ruiz shoots from 20 yards out and makes the score 3-0. The Lady Bears were not going down without a fight and were on the attack. A well taken free kick puts the Lady Bears on the board with 15 minutes left to play. Saginaw earns the district win with a final score of 3-1. The player of the game was Ruiz who had one goal and one assist.

Saginaw will travel to Azle on Friday, March 3 for their next district game. They return home on March 7 against Granbury for Senior Night.
