The Lady Rough Riders had a dominant performance against the Lady Eagles from ILT Academy in their second game of the EMS ISD X-Town Shootout on Thursday, Jan. 19. Four minutes into the game, sophomore Daisy Ruiz took on the defense and put the first goal in the back of the net. Sophomore Elsie Zachry kept the pressure on and dribbled through the defenders and with her power and agility she was able to keep them off and secure the goal. With five minutes left in the first half, Madeline Braden fed Ruiz the ball, who got her second goal of the night. Junior Madeline Brade received a through ball from Elsie Zachry and added the fourth goal before the half ended. The Lady Rough Riders kept the moment going and junior Jazmine Cooper received a ball from Frida Rico and added the fifth goal of the night. Braden added her second goal with an assist from Jacky Rangel. The player of the match was Zachry.

Saginaw is 1-1 in the tournament after Thursday's two games. They will take on Benbrook on Friday at 4 p.m. and Bridgeport on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The Lady Rough Riders will open up district play on Tuesday, Jan. 24 against Northwest at Northwest High School.
