The Lady Rough Riders faced a challenging district matchup on Tuesday, hosting the Lady Bears of Brewer for their second meeting of the season.their opponent was a tough one, having a strong handling on the ball that tested the girls in red's skills and forced them to think on their feet. A free kick from 30 yards out marked the first goal for the team that evening. The ball was placed in the area, there was confusion in the Brewer box, and Valeria Orozco was able to tap it home into the back of the net, tying up the match 1-1. It was a constant battle of wills through the end of the first half and into the second as Addy Anderle found a pass to Lyla Stutz who, in turn, put a shot right over the keeper's head from 30 yards out. Sadly, the Lady Bears managed to pull ahead in the end, and by the final whistle had amassed five points to Saginaw's two. However, the Lady Rough Riders played with heart, consistent team support, and kept pushing until the very end. While the scoreboard wasn't in their favor, their effort and resilience were evident throughout the match.
Friday, March 6th, the Lady Rough Riders are on the road to take on the Aledo Lady Bearcats.
