The gusts were a test for both teams at Rough Riders Stadium yesterday. The girls in red hosted the Lady Pirates of Granbury on Tuesday in their second matchup of the season. Saginaw had grown much stronger since the last time they met, evident by their strong organization and coordination that was showcased throughout the first half. Defense worked relentlessly, communicating effectively and stepping in to shut down the multiple offensive attacks made by the visiting team. It was only a literal last-minute goal by the Lady Pirates that put them up by one going into halftime. The second half proved tougher as Saginaw was now facing into the fierce winds. Even still, they committed to the strong defense thay had been presenting all game and created several great opportunities to pierce their opponents side of the field. Though Granbury added one more late goal to end the evening 0-2, it did not properly reflect the grit and effort shown throughout the night.
The Lady Rough Riders are on the road Friday, February 27th, for their rematch against the Lady Hornets of Azle.
