What a night! The Rough Riders hosted Haltom on their home pitch Tuesday and played what is undoubtedly the most nail-biting game of the season so far. A mere four minutes into the first quarter, Saul Ruiz and Tony Hayden collaborated to put Saginaw up on the board early and set the stage for a Rough Rider domination of the first half. Saul went on to bring the boys in red up by two more points with an assist by Michael Gomez and a following hat-trick, the latter of whom went to set up Adrian Hinojosa for the fourth and last goal of the half with a skillful display of bouncing the ball of the cross bar and to his teammate. After a short break, Saginaw came out with renewed effort and hit the net three more times via Valenta Gallardo with an assist from Pelun Wadam, Saul Ruiz for his fourth of the night and assisted by Aaden Segovia, and Tony Hayden with an assist from Alex Ploneda. The opposition manage to steal four more goals of their own after scoring in the last minutes of the first half, but were unable bring themselves over the top, ending the evening with a 7-5 Saginaw victory.
The Rough Riders head to Cross Timbers Middle School on Thursday, January 15th, to face off against Creekview High.
