Saginaw kicked off the season with a nail biter of a matchup last Friday, going head to head with the Richland Royals in their first home game. The evening started off slow for the boys in red, falling slightly behind in the fast-paced environment but clawing their way back at halftime to tie up the game. Heading into the last two quarters, the Rough Riders continued to put up an admirable fight, but struggles with ball security allowed the visiting team to slip through the cracks in the defense and barely pull ahead by a 9 point deficit, ending the evening with a 62-71 final score. Despite the loss, the boys played excellently and showed they are ready to take on the season. Eugene Roseberry led all scorers with 27 points, followed by Willie McCrary adding 14 points of his own.
The Rough Riders are back at home on Tuesday, November 18th, to take on Heritage.
