The Lady Rough Riders put up fierce fight at home this past Friday, rematching the Brewer Lady Bears nearly a month after their last meeting. The girls in red started off strong, winning the first two sets of the night with six and nine points respectively, the greatest point gaps of the evening. However, their opponent managed to sneak their way through a tightly-knit defense in the final three rounds and just barely pulled ahead with no greater than three points. Though it was not the outcome Saginaw was hoping for, the performance of the team showed massive gains from their last matchup with Brewer. Miriam Castillo led the team with a impressive 21 kills, followed closely Khiara Faber 17 kills, Viktoria Vasileva with five, Brooke Fuller with four, and Morgan Alexander with three. On the defensive side of the ball, Kemper Rangel recorded 27 digs, while Brooke Fuller contributed 22 digs, Miriam Castillo added 19 digs, Khiara Faber had 16 digs, Elliana Coleman collected 11 digs, and Viktoria Vasileva finished with seven digs.
The girls are off to Azle on Tuesday, October 14th, to face off against the Hornets.
