The Lady Rough Riders had their work cut out for them on Friday night, facing off against district-mate Chisholm Trail in the closest game of the season so far. Securing an extremely narrow win in set one at 25-23 and an equally close victory in set three at 25-16, the tied teams threw down in a fifth and final match to decide who brought home the gold. Following the trend of the evening, the last game was just a tight as the ones that had come before it. Eventually, however, the girls in red were able to gain the upper hand and clinch the final point to end the evening in their favor 3-2. Khiara Faber led the charge with an impressive 24 kills with Miriam Castillo contributing significantly with 18 of her own. Viktoria Vasileva made five crucial kills and two key blocks, with Brooke Fuller adding four kills and one block. Elliana Coleman supported each of the girls with her exceptional setting, playing the vital role in orchestrating the offense.
Saginaw returns home Friday, October 3rd, to face off against the Granbury Lady Pirates.
