The Lady Rough Riders brought home bronze by the end of the two-day district track meet last week, several individuals qualifying to move on to the upcoming Area meet. Over the course of the two days, the girls fought hard in a number of extremely close events. Leading the charge was 2-time district champion Jazmine Duncan who won both the 100 mh with a time of 15.54 and the 300 mh with 46.34, a personal best. Laila Freeman, Amaiyah Oyedeji, Anabelle Aguilera, and Jaidyn McNeil followed close behind with a second place finish in the 4x100m relay at 49.66, narrowly missing first place by just .01. Teammate Ashlyn McNeil joined Freeman, Aguilera, and McNeil for the second place finish in the 4x200m at 1:46.77. Leana Harper finished in 4th place in the long jump, her second best jump breaking a close tie with a competitor, and the 4x400m team of Duncan, Mcneil, Oyedeji, and Gabrielle Snead secured the third place trophy with a 2nd place finish ahead of Brewer.
All of the Lady Rough Riders mentioned qualified for the upcoming area meet on Friday, April 11th, at Aledo High School. Way to go, girls!
