Round One of the playoffs already proved to be an intense competition for the Rough Riders, facing off against Grapevine for the title of Bi-District champs. The boys worked together as a cohesive unit, scoring and taking the lead early with a long pass from Aaden Segovia to Saul Ruiz. Both teammates were the dynamic duo of the evening, scoring off of one another two more times with Alan Sanchez sinking Saginaw's fourth and final goal. The Rough Riders weren't very far in front, however, despite their team synergy. Grapevine kept stride with them through both halves and tied up the game 4-4 at the last second, forcing them into PKs. Mario Rodriguez played great defense by saving two attempts from hitting the back of the net, and the quintet of Aaden Segovia, Valente Gallardo, Conrad Torp, Saul Ruiz, and Alan Sanchez scored all five of their PKs to win Saginaw the trophy.
The Rough Riders head to Keller on Tuesday, March 25, to battle Mansfield Summit in the Area Championship.
