The Saginaw Rough Riders made school history at the Area Championship on Friday, Mar. 29 as they defeated Lake Dallas 3-1, securing their first-ever advancement to the regional quarterfinals. Demonstrating strength from the start, Saginaw took an early 1-0 lead with a goal by Alan Sanchez, assisted by Mathy Tampwo. Later, Michael Burch converted a penalty kick drawn by Mathy, extending the lead to 2-0. In the second half, Sanchez struck again with a remarkable goal from outside the 18-yard box, assisted by Ali Sena, bringing the score to 3-0. Throughout the game, the Rough Riders maintained possession and showcased resolute defense. Despite a late penalty kick awarded to Lake Dallas in the final minutes, Saginaw held firm, sealing a commendable performance.

The Rough Riders will take on Midlothian in the Regional Quarterfinal playoff on Tuesday, Apr. 2 at 8 pm at Mustang-Panther Stadium in Grapevine.
