The Saginaw track and field teams hosted a huge home track meet with 17 registered teams on Saturday, Feb. 25. The varsity girls team finished fourth overall. Senior Skyler Barber tied for first in the shot with a throw of 31'01". She also finished third with a personal best throw of 90' in the discus. Junior London Provo jumped a personal best of 16'6.25" and 33'4.5" to place fourth in the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Provo also scored points in the 100m by placing fifth. Senior Adriana Vargas-Concepcion and freshman Taylor Theriot added to the team points by finishing third and sixth in the 800m. Many of the Lady Rough Riders set personal records at the meet.
Both the varsity and JV boys teams placed fifth overall. Top finishes for the varsity Rough Riders included the 4x100m relay taking third and the 4x400m relay placing second. Senior Terique Shaver placed first in the 100m. Junior Paul Barasa was third in the 200m and Shaver was fifth in the same event. Junior DJ Thomas took fifth in the 100m and senior Jacob Brewer placed third in the 300m hurdles.
The Rough Riders compete next in the meet at Kennedale High School on March 3.
