This week, the Rough Riders travelled across the tracks and delivered yet another outstanding performance at the District Championship. Both the boys and girls teams had their work cut out for them as they took on talented opponents from both within and without the district, including Boswell, Eagle Mountain, and L.D. Bell.
On the gentlemen's side of the gym, the boys in red secured another first place finish with a combined score of 338.900, earning the title of district champs and a qualification for the Region 4 Championship. Lucas Guhl lead the charge in the dominance of the all-around competition, earning multiple event victories by finishing first on floor, pommel horse, horizontal bars, and parallel bars. Adam Stack followed with a close 2nd and brought home top three placements in pommel horse, rings, and floor.
With the ladies, the team brought home a strong third place and a team score of 98.850. Cameron McDaniel placed third on bars and fifth in the All-Around, contributing greatly to the team's final positions as day two came to a close. Because of their success, they too earned a spot in the Regionals competition.
Both teams travel to Birdville's Thomas Coliseum on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 7th and 8th, to compete against the best of the best in Region 4.
