Malaika Warren

Malaika Warren is coming to Saginaw High School as the Assistant Varsity Girl’s Basketball coach and Track and Field. She was born in Sunny South Dallas, where she attended Dallas Lincoln High School, playing basketball for the Lincoln Lady Tigers. While attending Dallas Lincoln Warren was awarded numerous All District accolades. Upon graduating from Dallas Lincoln in 1994, Warren earned a four -year basketball scholarship to Langston University, the only Historically Black College in Oklahoma. Warren attended Langston from 1990-1994 and was a member of the Langston Lady Lion Basketball team.

At the conclusion of her career, Warren left an indelible mark on Langston University women’s basketball history by being named Freshman National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All- American (1990-1991), NAIA All -American fourth team (1991-1992), and NAIA All-American first team (1992-1993). Additionally, Warren was named District-9 Player of the Year (1992-93, First team All-OIC (1991-92, 1992-93, 1993-94) First team All-District- (1992-93) and Honorable Mention All-District-9 (1991-92). Warren is currently second All-Time in Langston Women’s Basketball history in career points (1954) and rebounds (1,101) Warren returned in the fall of 1994 where Langston University retired her Jersey #44. In October 2023, Warren was summoned back to her college alma mater, where she was one of eight athletes inducted into the 2023 Langston University Athletic Hall of Fame. Warren is also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated.

Warren is also the mother of one son Willie Warren, who also excelled on the court in High School (North Crowley), College (University of Oklahoma), NBA (Los Angeles Clippers), CBA (China Basketball Assoc.), and a few other countries. She is the grandmother of two wonderful grandchildren Jaylien, and Yvonne who energize her to keep persevering to build a legacy for them to carry on.
